Originally launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nuestro Bienestar was created to provide critical health education and improve access to testing and vaccines. Thanks to comprehensive training provided by the Department of Public Health, our dedicated team of health promoters emerged as vital community leaders in the Mission District. Between 2020-2023, we trained three domestic workers and one day laborer, empowering them to offer essential pandemic relief.

Since the pandemic, Nuestro Bienestar has pivoted to address other pressing health challenges disproportionately affecting the Latinx community, such as diabetes and hypertension. Our health promoters are expanding their expertise to tackle more specialized topics, including alcohol use and mental health, ensuring that we continue to meet the evolving needs of those we serve. This year, we’re proud to announce that our services have grown to include case management support for the residents of Casa Quezada.
